Someone at Kanye West’s show on Friday flicked a coin at the superstar, prompting him to put his onstage wankery on hold for a couple seconds and condemn them. “Eat shit and die”, he sang, vocoder in full effect before offering; “Reveal yourself and I’ll punch you in your fucking face”. It was a pretty brutal moment amongst a set of otherwise uplifting music. Though I can’t say I don’t sympathise with the performer in these instances. WHY MUST YA’LL THROW SHIT? . Why would dudes be putting the entire show in jeopardy by taking aim at the very performer they came to see? What is it about a live show that conjures out the inner douchebag in people? It’s as if we all have an inconsiderate Bundy-drinkin bogan dwelling within that is suddenly set free in the dense claustrophobic swell of a general admission moshpit. At least Kanye continued on, absolutely blowing away an adoring crowd with 2.5 hours of quality performing. Take that, HATERZ.
