/end greatest moment in live music EVA as experienced 10.34pm Wednesday January 30, 2008. This killer gig has proven that the gap between good music now and good music then hasn’t really changed as much as we thought. Though some people are reporting otherwise, suggesting that Rage’s unique sound has aged, I couldn’t disagree more and am unwaveringly proud that touting Rage @ Festy as the best gig ever appears to be the most incredibly unhip thing to do. While several naysayers have expressed disdain at the shirtless cock-forest that dominated the show, or the band’s lack of understated indie chic that seems to constitute ‘greatness’ these days, I can’t fault the sound, performance or general ‘OMFGIMFINALLYSEEINGRAGE!!!!DISISFARKINGTOPS!’ vibe that circulated the room along with the 50 degree heat. Sure I laughed when the coked-out fanboy in front of me shook my hand vigorously and thanked me for sharing the most amazing moment of his life with him- before offering the same gesture to the guy next to him, the lighting dude and possibly several inanimate objects- but can’t say I didn’t feel compelled to do the same.
