You know how you have those moments at 4am in the morning, when afte mixing a slew of drinks and teetering on the brink of a deep drunken sleep, a friend will ask a question so profound that it prompts a further couple minutes of stunned silence while a couple of you ponder the gravity of your answer. “Dude, if you could see any band in the world, regardless of location, time, price….who would it be”. Aside from the fact that that was far more eloquent than anything my friends and I could muster after emptying the liquor cabinet, it’s a corker of a question and one which I’ve been asked many times. Always lingering at the top of my list, is Rage Against The Machine. It usually prompts righteous laughs, even from those who have the audactiy to answer The Beatles, but I don’t care.
So it is with not an ounce of subtlety that I lost my fucking mind when the announcement was made that they’e headed our way in January. RAGEAGAINSTHEFRAKINMACHINEPEOPLE!!!KILLINGINTHENAMEOFZOMMMGGGGG!! That one of my favourite bands of all time would not only reunite, but also tour Australia of all distant lands unappealing to millionare rockstars is the stuff dreams are made of. Albeit primarily the dreams of my 16 year old self that used the political fury of Zach DeLaROcha as antidote to my most adolescent of issues. Regardless that uncoordinated 16 year old will be out in full force at Festival Hall on January 30.
Also kudos to all involved in the Poison City Records showcase at the Espy this Saturday. Truly an awesome night.
