Some fantastically juicy news sprung from Drive Thru band, Houston Calls’ camp last week. In unfathomably dramatic style, lead singer Tom Keiger announced that guitarist Jose Lopez was no long in the band- not because of irreconcilable artistic differences, or to pursue other projects or to spend time with his family- but ‘cos he banged the singer’s ex. Keiger made a public announcement that “Our good ‘friend’ Jose has decided to shack up with my ex-girlfriend immediately after she broke my heart and left me. The two hid it from me for weeks over Christmas and only until yesterday when I had to find out was I informed. Great guy! Stand up guy! Well to put it bluntly he’s out of the band for good and hopefully lives a terrible life forever.” SNAP! I can’t decide whether I approve of Keiger’s course of action is harsh or not but I guess it depends on the bro-code employed within that particular group. I wonder whether the other band members had a say in his dismissal? Either way I bet Lopez is feeling remorseful. Getting the boot from a relatively popular band who are touring the world all in the name of a young lass is pretty mammoth. To quote the dearly departed Heath Ledger you’d wanna hope this chick has beer flavoured nipples. Houston Calls play Soundwave Festival this February, as well as the sideshow with New Found Glory on Wednesday February 25.
