Not content to revel in Soundwave’s spectacular line-up for one measly day, Core went interstate last week to see how Sydneysiders roll. And with a mere hour’s slumber to my name after an epic weekend of punk rock, I’ve decided that they..roll…good. Brain fail.Poison The Well were one of the tightest bands of the day but like so many hardcore acts the circle pit that formed front of stage for their set proved more enthralling than the band themselves.

Watching punters deliver brutal, awkward and ridiculous punishment upon one another for a solid half hour was far greater than anything dished out musically last Sunday. Seeing a poor young lass inject herself into the circle pit with naïve enthusiasm and fervour before being swiftly and most spectacularly roundhouse kicked in the face by a bandana-clad 15 year old was quite possibly the best thing these precious, swollen peepers of mine have ever witnessed.

Coming a close second to this amazing moment were standout performances by Dillinger Escape Plan, Alkaline Trio, New Found Glory and Face To Face.
