Remarkably, the Melbourne leg of the notoriously poorly planned Soundwave festival appeared to be –for the most part- a resounding success. Apart from the multitude of different timetables that circulated both web and venue (all of which proved useless) and the clouds of stifling dusk of Big Day Out magnitude, things seemed to run smoothly for all involved. Highlights of the day included delightfully disgusting cheese and onion hot dogs, sunshine and a cool breeze, so many shitty haircuts, Carpathian’s circle pit, black boogers, Tommy of Divine Heresy’s carefully manicured eyebrows, The Offspring's set list choc full of ‘LOL remember that!?’ songs and the following awesome quotes from some of the festivals biggest names:

“ What the fuck’s up!? Get ready for me to blow my musical load all over your faces!”- Alex, lead vocalist for All Time Low, addresses his adoring tween crowd. Way to live up to your band name, brah.

“Get ready to be depressed for 45 minutes”- Dallas Green warns his crowd before launching into his set of melancholy acoustic tracks as City and Colour.

“That was a beautiful wall of death, guys”- Geoff, singer of Thursday, offers his audience some encouragement after teaching them the finer points of hardcore etiquette.
“It's a good thing its so cold out here cos you guys are HOT!”- Noodles of The Offspring’s praise bounces off a young audience like a bad dad joke.
