This time last week, Alexisonfire returned to Melbourne, which is of course good for us, but it also was comforting news to them.
Dallas Green admitted on many occasions that he’d love to live here, and then George Pettit rambled on-stage mid-half naked romp that he’d happily reside in any of his frothing fans’ basements if it guaranteed him stay in Melbourne. I tell you what, I’d be happy to move permanently onto my couch if it promised repeat performances of the band’s Wednesday night Melbourne show.
After Dallas’ flawless vocals admittedly made me a little weak in the knees during their acoustic performance of Boiled Frogs for Triple J’s Short. Fast. Loud, the man quietly dominated their live show too, as a tranquil entity holding magnificent melodies alongside a psychotic Chris Steele and energised George Pettit.
Green’s amazing solo intro to Charlie Sheen VS Henry Rollins had even the most steadfast hardcore boys cooing a little, alongside the masses of pretty young things after Green’s heart.
Pettit however, was perhaps the most loveable of the crew, particularly when he haphazardly informed Thursday’s underage crowd that they were a very attractive bunch of people, before being sternly reminded by Green that he was indeed complimenting a crowd of what was effectively ‘jailbait’.
Somehow I’m sure they didn’t mind.
